Using Google Hangouts to Collaborate (and save time)

This afternoon a half dozen Clarkstown Google Educators participated in an online Google Hangout to discuss the guidelines regarding professional development workshops as well as to explore some of the capabilities of Hangouts.  One person was on a wireless Nexus 7, two were at home, one was on a netbook, and another on a computer with no camera (audio only).  We ended up spending more than an hour together.

In an informal format we discussed professional development and strategies for working with adult learners.  We examined how we could share resources and  best practices to prevent reinventing the wheel.  This would have been virtually impossible to do via email and it would have been wasteful for everyone to drive to one location for such a meeting.  The technology tools available to our teachers and students continue to deliver on the promise of engagement and collaboration.
