Five or Fewer: Why I Use Brief Email Responses

The Problem
Reading and responding to email takes up a lot of time but is organizationally vital.

The Solution
“Five or Fewer” is my effort to reply to all email responses–regardless of recipient or subject– in five or fewer sentences. If I cannot, I will lead with a brief summary to hold true to this commitment. My email responses will be similar to text messages, limiting myself in my response. If a question requires a “yes or no” answer, I will place that in the subject line. Please do not interpret my brevity for rudeness or tone. It’s my effort to respect your time.
