Today Google introduced a research tool that is embedded into the Google Docs experience. Users can select a word or words in a document, right click and choose “Research” to learn more about a topic. As stated on its information page, “When conducting a search, the Research tool will show you different types of results — web results, images, quotations, maps, reviews, and more.”
Initial responses in the school district are summed up by one response: “This is cool!” Students will find this to be an invaluable resource and it puts a variety of research tools at their fingertips when the need it; as they create their work! This new tool from Google also automates inserting information into the document and adding the proper citation. Our students are fortunate to have such resources available, including “anytime/anywhere” access to them.
