Over the past few weeks, I have had the opportunity to speak with teachers, administrators, and students about technology in our district, and there is an excitement about how these tools can be leveraged to improve student learning. Topics of our discussions have included SMART Boards, blogs, wikis, managed instructional packages, anytime/anywhere access to our files, streaming media, web access and much more. Needless to say, it’s been an invigorating few months!
The decisions we make regarding the role of technology as an embedded part of student learning will be guided by the district’s strategic goals. To ensure that these important technology decisions represent the needs of all our constituents, the first meeting of the district’s newly formed technology committee will be held on November 20, 2007. This committee will serve an advisory function.
