Time Management and Email

For many, email now consumes a significant amount of the work day, and the one common thread I hear as I meet with individuals inside and outside of our district is that there no longer seems to be enough time in the day to get things done. Knowing that nobody has secretly shortened the number of hours in our day, I suspect the frequency with which we are contacted and the time we (feel) must be dedicated to responses plays a large part. I am embarking on strategies for managing email overload (on average, I receive approximately 100 messages), and will share these practices in the “managing email” category of my blog. For now, I find Steve Robbins’ comments (brief) quite useful.
